Dear BAPRM Members and Guests:

The Worldwide ERC Global Symposium in Washington, DC has come and gone, signaling that Fall has fallen and the holidays will be arriving soon. The conference was an amazing gathering of people from all over the world, with quite a range of experience and certainly some different perspectives. Looking at current events from a different point of view than the average American was a welcome change, and there were some lively discussions as to who would be elected as the next President of the United States. We now know the answer to that debate, and whether your colors run red or blue, there is no denying the historical importance of this year’s election.

We are seeing changes in leadership at a national level in both politics, as well as our world of mobility. The retirement of H. Cris Collie ushers in a new era with Lynn Bragg as the Chief Executive Officer of Worldwide ERC, and soon we will see changes here in the Bay area as well. Nominations are being accepted for the 2009 board of directors and volunteer opportunities abound. BAPRM relies on the willingness of its members to get involved and volunteer their time and expertise. Is this the year you throw your hat in the ring?

As Thanksgiving draws near, and we reflect on what we are most thankful for, I would be remiss if I didn’t state my appreciation for the 2008 BAPRM board of directors. Their hard work and dedication has made this a year of growth and change for our organization, and their sense of team has been wonderful to witness. In a business environment where many people are handling multiple responsibilities and covering numerous roles, it would have been easy to slack on an unpaid position. In fact, I have seen just the opposite, and have been impressed with the level of commitment exhibited by the group.

I hope to see you at our December holiday meeting, as we continue our charitable tradition of donating toys to needy children in the Bay area through the San Francisco Firefighters. BAPRM has always been able to count on the generosity of its members and guests and I am sure this year will be no exception. We are also celebrating BAPRM’s 25th anniversary and will have some fun events planned around that, as well as revealing our new logo and launching BAPRM’s brand new website. We are definitely closing out the year with a bang!

Warm Regards,

Heather James, CRP, GMS
